how would i go about starting to whet paste? i have thin rolls of paper would spray adhesive work ? i have a can of it

nah, you can make your own paste, or get some wall paper paste. Get the powder kind, it works pretty well.

1 part plain flour to 4 parts water, whisk it up and cook it til its thick. Put it some sugar or pva if you want it extra sticky. Pour it into a bottle for easy carrying. Paste up the wall a bit with a brush, put on your poster then paste over that with a thin amount of paste and make sure all the sides and corners are down with as little bubbling as possible.
and ride a bike when you're putting stuff up, can reach higher and get out of there quick if anything goes bad.

the bike leaned up against a wall or post to make a ladder is one of my best friends.

Normally an A1 flip chart pad. Cheapest I can get in staples. The recycled goes yellow after a while and the pure white tends to stay very white until the mold starts to form.
I know other people usually use newspaper which they source from wherever their local paper is printed. They normally sell off end of rolls for cheap or sometimes even give it away or chuck it in the bin. Give a few things a go and see what you like is probably the best idea.
