Hi folks
I need help concerning how to paint on polyester!!!
I have to paint a flag for an underwater rugby team and i dont know which paint to use... fellows at work told me not to use acrylics. textile paint would also be not too godd they said maybe just spraypaint.??
hope anyone can help me out

paint markers and oil paints would be the best thing.

Spraypaint might work. An epoxy paint might be your best bet if you have access to it and some drying time...

maybe some spray-paint primer before anything. then maybe you could use acrylics and then clear-coat it. maybe you could paint it with fabric screenprinting paint.? this is a tough one. - do you have anything like it to run a few tests on.

i dont have materials or time for tests :-( i got a tip from a fellow from work that fabric and acrylic will work - but it wont last very long...i told the guy im doing this for that he should take extreme care (washing is a no-no)
anyway...thanks to all for the tips :-)

Acrylic is not going to grab the fibers of the fabric properly and the more acrylic and layers you add will cause the fabric to become really stiff and possibly cause the paint to crack. I would go with either fabric paint or some kind of craft paint and/or added textile medium that is made to stick to fabric.

i mixed up fabric and acrylic and the result is good until now....pics will follow :-)
